WASHINGTON-Tonight, U.S. Congressman Aaron Bean (FL-04) released the following statement after the House voted 222-209 to end the Schumer Shutdown and restore full operations of the federal government.
"Tonight, I voted to end the Schumer Shutdown and get our government back to work. For 43 days, hardworking Americans missed paychecks, worried about feeding their families, and faced disruptions in vital services. We've said it from the start: our military, federal firefighters, and air traffic controllers should never be used as political pawns," said Congressman Bean. "The bill we passed funds the government through January 30, and fully supports our veterans and farmers. Along with my House Republican colleagues, I'll keep fighting for a government that works for the people-not against them."
BACKGROUND
After more than six weeks of unnecessary pain inflicted on working families, House Republicans took action to end the chaos. The legislation passed includes a clean funding extension through January 30, 2026, along with three full-year appropriations bills: Military Construction and Veterans Affairs, Agriculture, and the Legislative Branch.
This America-first package not only ends the shutdown, but it also delivers critical support to our veterans and farmers, and guarantees back pay for every federal worker impacted by the Democrat-led shutdown.
