Discover colonial life as it was in the North Carolina backcountry during a May Day Celebration from 11 am-4 pm, Saturday, May 2 at the Greensboro History Museum, 130 Summit Ave. In honor of America250, visitors can enjoy a free afternoon of family fun exploring 18th-century Guilford County buildings in the Museum's Mary Lynn Richardson Historic Park. The event brings history to life through May Day traditions, hands-on activities, and live demonstrations.
Visitors can become detectives, exploring the museum's 18th- and 19th-century structures to solve a period-inspired mystery. Families will enjoy traditional folk toys and Maypole dancing. Joining the celebration are experts from the High Point Museum, Guilford Courthouse National Military Park, and the UNCG Archaeology Program. For a fully immersive experience, period-appropriate or festive May Day attire is encouraged for all ages.
All events are free. Sweet treats from the Scoop Zone food truck will be available for purchase.
