On April 1, Ambassador Kong Xianhua to the Maldives met with representatives of the International Halal Tourism Organization(IHTO) of the Maldives. The two sides exchanged views on strengthening China-Maldives tourism cooperation.
IHTO noted that President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu attaches great importance to the development of halal tourism and has introduced a series of preferential and supportive policies. They highlighted that China's Muslim community enjoys a stable and prosperous life, with strong consumption potential, and that China has a well-developed halal food industry system. The Maldivian side expressed its expectation to further enhance cooperation with China, provide Chinese tourists with safer and more comfortable travel experiences in the Maldives, and actively explore possibilities for importing halal food products from China and expanding related business cooperation.
Ambassador Kong stated that China's economic development prospects remain broad. With the in-depth implementation of China's 15th Five-Year Plan, the Chinese market will unleash even stronger growth momentum. He welcomed the Maldivian side to continue strengthening its research and investment in the Chinese market, explore cooperation opportunities in emerging sectors, and promote bilateral practical cooperation to new heights.
