WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, U.S. Senator Cory Booker (D-NJ) proudly announces more than $4.4 million in new federal investments to strengthen environmental protection and public health across New Jersey. These awards will support efforts ranging from cleaning up contaminated brownfield properties to expanding access to safe drinking water and improving the state's ability to respond to stranded and entangled marine mammals. Together, these investments will help protect coastal ecosystems, expand access to clean water, and build healthier communities across New Jersey.
"These investments will make a real difference for communities across our state," said Senator Booker. "They mean cleaner land, safer drinking water, and stronger programs for our marine and coastal ecosystems - and they help ensure that New Jerseyans have the healthy environment they deserve."
Senator Booker was an active supporter of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, which provides funding for EPA Brownfield Grants. He also supported the Water Infrastructure Improvements for the Nation (WIIN) Act, which funds the Small, Rural, and Tribal (SmaRT) Drinking Water Assistance Program. In addition, he supported annual appropriations for the John H. Prescott Marine Mammal Rescue Assistance Grant Program, which funds marine mammal stranding response efforts.
