Today, the South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) rescinded the Water Shortage Warning that was issued on Feb. 5, 2026, for Lee and Collier counties.

Since the start of the wet season on May 15, 2026, the Lower West Coast area (Lee and Collier counties) received 4.46 inches of rain, which is over 140% of normal rainfall, resulting in a corresponding average rise in groundwater levels of approximately three feet in the Lower Tamiami Aquifer.
Even though the warning has been lifted, the SFWMD continues to encourage residents, visitors, and businesses to conserve water and limit irrigation. Residents can use these simple tips to save water both inside and outside their home:
