C.J. Smith Appointed Director of Sponsored Programs at SWOSU

Southwestern Oklahoma State University (SWOSU) has appointed C.J. Smith as the new Director of Sponsored Programs. Smith joined SWOSU's Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) as a Grants Specialist and advanced to the position of Assistant Director in 2019. He succeeds Dr. Lori Gwyn, who remains on the SWOSU campus working with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Office of Research Integrity as Education and Integrity Specialist.

A SWOSU alumnus, Smith earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Management in 2017 and a Master of Business Administration in 2022. Since joining the university, Smith has worked to advance SWOSU's mission, particularly in the areas of external funding and research promotion.

The Office of Sponsored Programs is dedicated to promoting scholarly activity and providing assistance for applying for internal and external funding. OSP administers intramural funded programs that include Financial Assistance Awards, Proposal Development Awards, and Organized Research funding. Additionally, OSP maintains the archives for various Institutional Review Boards and the University Community's Scholarly Activity reporting. In conjunction with the University Research/Scholarly Activity Committee, OSP sponsors an annual Research/Scholarly Activity Fair.

Smith resides in Weatherford with his wife Alyson, and their three children.
