On March 23, 2026, the Youth Forum of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Member States was held in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, as part of the Navruz-2026 festival.
The forum was attended by representatives of SCO member states, including the Republic of Belarus, the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Republic of India, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the People's Republic of China, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Tajikistan, and the Republic of Uzbekistan.
SCO Youth Forum opens in Tajikistan
In her welcoming remarks Shabnam Karim Rahimzoda, First Deputy Chairperson of the Committee on Youth and Sports Affairs under the Government of Tajikistan, emphasized that youth is a key factor for sustainable development and strengthening cooperation within the SCO. It was noted that the Republic of Tajikistan prioritizes state youth policy by implementing programs in the fields of education, vocational training, entrepreneurship support, digital skills development, volunteering, and international cooperation. The participants addressed the challenges in youth engagement, including insufficient coordination, communication barriers, and limited mobility. As part of practical measures, it was proposed to work on establishing permanent cooperation platforms, expanding educational and exchange programs, supporting innovation and start-ups, developing digital solutions, and promoting cultural exchanges.
In his remarks, Batir Tursunov, head of the SCO Secretariat delegation and Deputy Secretary-General of the Organization, emphasized the active role of the younger generation in promoting sustainable development, expanding cultural interaction, and strengthening mutual understanding among countries in the region. He paid special attention to the activities of the SCO Youth Council as an effective platform for experience exchange and the implementation of educational and cultural initiatives.

It was underscored that amid global challenges, including climate change and economic instability, it is important to actively engage young people in decision-making processes. In this regard, the SCO will continue to provide comprehensive support to youth initiatives and contribute to nurturing a new generation of leaders.
The outcome of the event highlighted that effectively harnessing the potential of the youth of SCO countries will contribute to strengthening peace, stability, and sustainable development in the region.
