China Exchanges Views with Thailand, Cambodia, and Malaysia on Cambodia-Thailand Border Conflict

On September 9, 2025, Special Envoy for Asian Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Deng Xijun, ahead of the senior officials' meetings on East Asian cooperation in Malaysia, exchanged views with representatives from Thailand, Cambodia, and Malaysia, the rotating chair of ASEAN, on the Cambodia-Thailand border conflict.

The Chinese side stated that as a close and friendly neighbor to both Cambodia and Thailand and a community with a shared future with the two countries, China has consistently upheld a fair and just position since the outbreak of the border conflict between Cambodia and Thailand, promoting talks for peace in a manner that accommodates the comfort levels of both sides. China is ready to continue playing a constructive role in achieving a sustainable ceasefire and facilitating the turnaround in Cambodia-Thailand relations.

The three parties appreciated China's mediation efforts regarding the Cambodia-Thailand border conflict and expressed hope that China will continue to play a constructive role.
