Journey to Freedom Illinois' Underground Railroad Exhibit

Pontiac Tourism & the Pontiac Public Library have partnered together to bring the "Journey to Freedom Illinois' Underground Railroad" traveling exhibit to Pontiac! See this amazing exhibit for yourself between the dates of January 31st - March 5th, 2025, during regular business hours at the Pontiac Public Library.

This exhibit highlights the stories of freedom seekers and the many conductors who took on great risk in the search for freedom and dignity. The opening night ceremony will take place on Thursday, January 30th, at 5:30PM and will feature the Looking for Lincoln Program Manager, Heather Feezor, who will explain the multiple year-long-journey bringing this historic exhibit to life. Refreshments will be provided.

In addition, there will be 4 companion programs/presentations that further highlight the Illinois' Underground Railroad history. These include:

- Historic Voices' Laura Keyes as Lucy Pettengill Station Operator on the Underground Railroad Presentation on February 4th, at the Pontiac Public Library starting at 5:30PM.
