Vote in the November 3 election by mailing your ballot, placing your ballot in an election drop box, or, in the days leading up to the election, visiting an in-person vote center.

All registered voters will be sent a ballot and a postage-paid return envelope. Postmark your ballot well before November 3 or deliver it directly to a vote center or drop box by 8:00 pm that night.

You have until October 19 to register online to vote in the November 3 election. Those who miss the deadline can still register and vote in person at a vote center or the Registrar of Voters' office until 8:00 pm on Election Day.

The November 3 election includes Berkeley candidates and ballot measures as well as races for state offices such as Governor and State Assembly, federal races for U.S. House of Representatives, statewide measures, county offices, and regional measures.

See what's on your November 3 ballot using vote411.org, which is run by the nonpartisan League of Women Voters.

Postmark early to vote by mail

All voters will receive ballots to submit by mail or at an official Registrar of Voters drop box.

The ballot return envelope is postage paid, so you do not need to add postage to mail your envelope. Remember to sign the back of your return envelope - otherwise, your vote will not be counted. It is recommended to put your ballot in the mail before November 3 to ensure that it is postmarked by election day.

If you did not receive your ballot, or if it was lost or damaged, visit a vote center to get a ballot and cast your vote. Vote centers open on either October 24 or October 31, depending on the location.

Voters must use a drop box or vote center in the county where they are registered to vote.

Ballot drop boxes

There are seven official, secure drop boxes in Berkeley and 59 more drop boxes throughout Alameda County:

  • Berkeley Civic Center Building, 2180 Milvia Street (boxes in front and behind)
  • Claremont Branch Library, 2940 Benvenue Avenue
  • Frances Albrier Recreation Center, 2800 Park Street
  • North Branch Library, 1170 The Alameda
  • University of California Berkeley, between Sather Gate and Architects & Engineers Building
  • West Branch Library, 1125 University Avenue

The Registrar of Voters picks up ballots from the drop boxes daily, concluding at 8:00 pm on Tuesday, November 3.

Once you've submitted your ballot, get notified when it's been received and counted by signing up for Alameda County's Track My Ballot online notification system, which is available in nine languages.
