Convicted Felon Arrested For September Aggravated Arson, Attempted Homicide

A convicted felon remains in custody on $750,000 bond following his arrest last night by deputy U.S. Marshals, with assistance from North Precinct patrol officers, on Church Street for several violent outstanding warrants, most recently for his involvement in starting a fire at his ex-girlfriend's house in the middle of the night with her and her child inside.

Lachaunti Williams, 46, had been on the run since 2021 when he was charged with aggravated assault and being a felon in possession of a weapon for shooting at the woman's home, which he admitted to doing while on federal parole, as well as threatening to come back and cause more harm to her and her family.

Last month, Nashville Fire Department personnel responded to her home after her front and rear doormats were set on fire, causing damage to both doors. NFD Investigators determined both were set intentionally. Williams was seen on area surveillance footage at the front door that morning when a large flame was ignited. He was charged with attempted criminal homicide by MNPD and aggravated arson by NFD.
