The street resurfacing project at the Walnut Grove Avenue and Broadway intersection has been extended until March 31, 2025, with work initially slated to be completed by January 31, 2025.
The delay in the project is due to conflicts between AT&T and Southern California Edison (SCE) utility lines and the planned locations for new traffic signal poles. With these utility lines now successfully relocated, crews have resumed work, focusing on installing new pedestals and removing old power poles as part of the street widening project.
Despite the challenges, including disruptions caused by recent wildfires, SCE and project partners are working diligently to complete the project. There is hope that the project will be finished ahead of the revised schedule. Should the work be completed before the March 31 deadline, the public will be notified via the city's social media platforms and other communication channels.
