Arrington Celebrates Passage of Defense Bill, Secures Record Funding for Dyess Air Force Base for the Third Consecutive Year

Washington, D.C. - Today, House Budget Chairman Jodey Arrington (TX-19) celebrated House passage of the FY27 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), which includes a record $160 million investment for Dyess Air Force Base - $40 million more than last year's record funding and the third consecutive year Arrington has secured the largest investment in the base's history.

"The first and foremost responsibility of the federal government is to provide for the common defense. Congress must ensure our military remains the most capable, lethal, and technologically advanced fighting force in the world.

"The FY27 National Defense Authorization Act rebuilds America's military by modernizing our defense industrial base, replenishing critical weapons stockpiles, strengthening our nuclear deterrent, advancing next-generation technologies, and ensuring our servicemembers have the resources they need to accomplish every mission. It also continues the important work of eliminating waste, fraud, and abuse within the Department of War.

"I am especially proud that this legislation secures a record $160 million investment in Dyess Air Force Base - $40 million more than last year's record-breaking NDAA investment in Dyess - to continue preparing for the arrival of the B-21 Raider in the Big Country.

"The bill also includes my Smitty Check Act to improve the care of injured and ill servicemembers, along with two amendments I authored to strengthen oversight of foreign investments near U.S. military installations and expand access to anonymous telehealth services for our veterans.

Delivering for Dyess Air Force Base

The FY27 NDAA provides $160 million for Dyess Air Force Base - the largest investment in its history, $40 million more than last year's record amount which was four times the previous year's record amount.

• $63 million for B-21 Flight Simulator Facility
• $74 million for B-21 Low Observable Corrosion Control Facility
• $23 million for B-21 Utilities Site Improvements

Restoring Lethal Capabilities

The FY27 NDAA rebuilds depleted stockpiles by providing the authorities and resources required to expedite the production and acquisition of munitions and key warfighting capabilities.

Improving Servicemembers' Quality of Life

The FY27 NDAA supports the President's request to raise all servicemembers' pay by 5 to 7% and improves housing, education, and access to childcare for military families.

Strengthening American Deterrence

The FY27 NDAA invests in the capabilities needed to maintain a strong U.S. posture. It strengthens nuclear deterrence, expands missile defense, and provides resources and authorities to counter adversaries like China, Russia, Iran, and North Korea.

Expediting Innovation to Warfighters

The FY27 NDAA ensures our warfighters have the capabilities they need to prevail in future conflicts by accelerating innovation and prioritizing cutting-edge technologies like hypersonics and autonomous systems.

Improving Accountability to Taxpayers

The FY27 NDAA builds on progress made in FY26 to streamline DoW operations and cut billions in wasteful programs. It stands up a new task force and provides necessary resources to achieve a full and clean audit.
