Art in the Atrium Opening Reception: “DREAM TEAM” by Damon DeWitt

WHAT:
Orange County Arts & Cultural Affairs presents Art in the Atrium, featuring the very colorful and very large "DREAM TEAM" by Damon DeWitt. An opening reception will be held on Friday, January 9, 2026 in the atrium gallery at the Orange County Administration Center. "DREAM TEAM" will be on display through January 22, 2026. The Administration Center is open Monday through Frida

y, 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., excluding holidays.

According to DeWitt, "My series on the 1992 Barcelona Dream Team consists of twelve full-body portraits at each player's true height-a physical record of excellence. At the Barcelona Olympics, the court became a stage where America showed its ingenuity and charm, and its reach. Their dominance marked a turning point: the game traveled faster than policy, and basketball became a global language. What began as an exhibition of superiority turned into a two-way exchange. Other nations learned the game, reshaped it, and now compete with us on equal terms."

"When I was ten, those players felt like gods. Their posters were on my walls, cards in plastic sleeves, and I wore out my driveway hoop trying to be taller. That childhood awe still lives inside the work."
