Sept. 10, 2025 - Denver Metro/Central Colorado - Resurfacing project begins in mid-September
Clear Creek & Summit Counties - The Colorado Department of Transportation and its contractor Brannan Sand and Gravel, LLC will resurface part of the Interstate 70 Eisenhower-Johnson Memorial Tunnels (EJMT) starting Sunday night, Sept. 14 through late October. The work will require overnight alternating tunnel traffic with up to 30 minutes of delay.
The project will remove the existing pavement on the right lanes of I-70 in both tunnels and replace it with new asphalt. This will remove the rutting, extend the asphalt's lifespan improving the pavement condition, and provide a safer driving experience before winter hits. Work will also include restriping the lanes.
