The City of Gainesville invites professional artists and artist teams to submit qualifications for a public art opportunity at the new Gainesville Fire Rescue Station #3, currently under construction.
Supported through the city's 1% for Public Art Program, this project seeks to integrate original artwork into the new station's design, while reflecting the character and spirit of the Gainesville community. The artwork must function as a privacy wall and may occupy part or all of a wall surface measuring 26.8 ft. x 6.8 ft.
The total project budget is $80,000. Up to three finalists will receive a $1,000 honorarium to develop and present a site-specific proposal. Artists are encouraged to review the full Call for Qualifications and submission requirements through the city's public art platform, Artwork Archive. The deadline for submission is Nov. 22.
The project is managed by the city's Parks, Recreational and Cultural Affairs Department, in collaboration with Gainesville Art in Public Places Trust. For more information, contact [email protected] or 352-393-8532.
