North Port Parks & Recreation launches new early childhood art program

Published on February 18, 2026

North Port Parks & Recreation is excited to introduce Little Picassos, a new creative art program designed for young children to explore imagination, self-expression and hands-on creativity through fun and engaging projects.

Little Picassos invites children ages 3-6 to paint, glue and create through a colorful, six-week adventure filled with messy, magical art experiences. Each week features a new theme that encourages creativity, laughter and confidence, with plenty of masterpieces for participants to take home. Parent or guardian supervision is required for all sessions.

The program will be held at the George Mullen Activity Center, located at 1602 Kramer Way. Pre-registration is required, and families should select the appropriate age group when registering. The program fee is $40 per child.

Classes are offered on Tuesdays from March 24 through April 28. The age 3-4 group will meet from 9 to 9:45 a.m., followed by the age 5-6 group from 10 to 10:45 a.m.

Weekly themes include an introduction to colors and mixing, tracing shapes and stamping, watercolor painting, pasting and gluing, clay play and exploring symmetry through art.

Little Picassos is designed to spark creativity at an early age while providing a welcoming environment for young artists to learn and grow.
