EU High Risk Security Network organised a specialised training for law enforcement authorities

From 1 to 5 June, the EU High Risk Security Network organised the third edition of the EU-funded counter unmanned aircraft systems, commonly known as 'drones', training cycle for law enforcement, hosted by the Portuguese Guarda Nacional Republicana Training Centre, located in Figueira da Foz, Portugal.

This training is part of recent initiatives adopted by the European Commission to support law enforcement' preparedness to counter the threats posed by drones, as provided by the Action Plan on drone and counter drone security adopted on 11 February 2026. The Action Plan includes EU-funded trainings organised by the High Risk Security Network as one of the key actions.

The five-day course provided participants with knowledge and practical expertise on counter drone security. It also provided a deeper understanding of the field-level requirements for setting up a counter drones mission. Trainees had the opportunity to use kinetic and non-kinetic mitigation technologies, such as jammers and different types of projectiles.
