We Want You to Know...

Arts Walk This Weekend!
Olympia Spring Arts Walk is happening this weekend! Join us Friday, April 25, from 5-10 p.m. and Saturday, April 26, from 12-6 p.m. for a vibrant two-day celebration of community, culture, and the arts. Artists, makers, and performers will showcase their work-through exhibits, events, and interactive activities-at more than 100 downtown Olympia locations, transforming the area into a bustling hub of creativity. Learn more.

West Bay Restoration & Park Master Plan
Learn more about the West Bay Restoration & Park Master Plan on April 30 at 6:00 p.m. at The Olympia Center. Staff will present an overview of concept drawings for future park, trail, and habitat restoration improvements at West Bay Park. While construction is not yet scheduled, completing the master plan sets the stage for future grants, funding, and collaboration. Can't make it? View the plan at olympiawa.gov/westbaypark.

Help Develop the Vision for Rebecca Howard Park
Rebecca Howard Park, named for a 19th-century Black business owner and community leader, is being designed as a public space to honor Olympia's Black history and stories. If you missed the in-person meeting on April 12, we still want your input! Please take the survey on Engage Olympia (sign-in required) to share your thoughts on project goals, storytelling techniques, and design concepts. A short 6-minute video is available to guide you through the three design alternatives. Survey closes Sunday, May 4.

Grass Lake Update
The Grass Lake trail project is nearing completion and should be physically finished by early May. Trail and parking lot paving, boardwalk construction, and frontage improvements (except for the bioretention swale on Kaiser Road) are complete. Final mitigation plantings and landscaping are being installed as we speak, and picnic tables, benches, signage, and art sculptures will follow soon! Stay tuned for information on our official ribbon cutting celebration.

Kaiser Woods Park Tree Removal
A tree report identified nine hazardous trees-six Western red cedars and three Douglas firs-near the Kaiser Woods Park trail network, which Parks staff will remove in May. Additionally, the City of Olympia has authorized Squaxin Island Tribal members to harvest cedar bark from standing and removed trees, a sustainable practice that does not harm living trees. For a map of their locations or for questions, contact Sarah Giannobile, Parks Planner, at sgiannob@ci.olympia.wa.us.

Volunteer Opportunities
Join us for an upcoming Parks Stewardship Volunteer Opportunity! Tools, gloves, and light refreshments provided. Youth under 14 must be accompanied by an adult. Learn more or sign up at Volunteer Olympia. Event Facilities Available
