Anchorage, Alaska - Freshman Murphy Kimball finished as the third American and fifth overall in the classic sprints at the US National Championships Saturday.
The Seawolves had two other men compete in the men's open sprints. Freshman Erling Bjoernstad won his quarterfinal heat but was disqualified in the semi-finals for a false start. Senior Peter Hinds was eliminated after placing third in his quarterfinal heat.
Freshman Marit Flora finished second in her quarterfinal heat before placing sixth in the semifinals.
UAA had two skiers compete in the U20 heats.
Sophomore Matteus Sokulsky finished fourth in the quarterfinals, and freshman Dashe McCabe was sixth.
UAA will compete in the 20-kilometer classic races Sunday.
