Annual Point-in-Time Count Results Released

In the recent annual Point-in-Time (PIT) count, Roseville accounted for a total of 260 homeless individuals, with 27 percent sheltered and 73 percent unsheltered, representing approximately 0.16% of the City's population. This count is part of a larger annual effort led by the Homeless Resource Council of the Sierras, Placer County's Continuum of Care, to estimate the number of individuals experiencing homelessness on a single night.

In January, staff from the Roseville Housing Division and the Police Department's Social Services Unit collaborated closely with shelter providers, Placer County, and neighboring cities to conduct the PIT count. This annual effort helps ensures consistency and helps track trends over time, encompassing both "sheltered" and "unsheltered" individuals and families. Those residing in shelters or transitional housing are classified as "sheltered," whereas those living in locations not intended for human habitation, such as tents or vehicles, are classified as "unsheltered."

A total of 711 homeless individuals were counted from South Placer to North Lake Tahoe, compared to 702 individuals in the 2024 PIT count. Click here to learn more.
