Rep. King Highlights School Bus Safety Grant Funding for Local Districts

COLUMBUS - State Representative Angie King (R-Celina) is pleased to announce that numerous local school districts in Mercer, Auglaize, and Darke Counties were recently awarded funding from the Ohio School Bus Safety Grant Program-totaling more than $189,360.

As part of the state operating budget, the Legislature provided funding toward helping school districts offset the costs of upgrading their bus fleets with advanced safety equipment. Flexible guidelines allowed each school district to best utilize the funds to promote safety in their fleet.

"As part of this statewide investment, nine schools in the 84th District will receive funding to further strengthen Ohio's already strong school transportation safety standards," said King. "These grants support ongoing improvements to school buses and the addition of modern safety features, helping ensure students travel safely each school day."

The list of awardees in the 84th House District is the following:

  • Parkway Local School District - $35,444
  • Fort Recovery Local School District - $5,307
  • Minster Local School District - $5,000
  • New Knoxville Local School District - $5,000
  • St. Mary's City School District - $39,825
  • Ansonia Local School District - $21,794
  • Greenville City School District - $5,000
  • Wapakoneta City School District - $50,895
  • Versailles Exempted Village School District - $21,103

Every school district that applied for assistance with eligible equipment received an award. Schools may use the funds to incorporate safety enhancements in new buses or add safety technology to buses currently in service.
