The Center for Business Analytics has announced the hiring of Georgette Angulo-Ramirez as its new executive director. Angulo-Ramirez succeeds Tim Cholvat, who retired.
Housed within the Carl H. Lindner College of Business, the Center for Business Analytics' mission is to connect, teach, learn and promote the application of business analytics and AI through a community of industry and academic experts.
New Center for Business Analytics Executive Director Georgette Angulo-Ramirez.
Angulo-Ramirez joins the center after nearly 15 years at Dunnhumby/84.51, where she most recently served as vice president of strategy insights group and center store merchandising strategy and analytics. Previously, Angulo-Ramirez was director of grocery perimeter merch strategy & analytics; director, strategy center of excellence; and director, customer foundations consulting.
"Georgette is ideally suited to lead the center's next chapter, where business AI and advanced analytics are transforming every industry," said Lindner dean Marianne Lewis, PhD. "In a rapidly changing world, strong partnerships are essential. We learn better and faster when we learn together. Georgette's rare combination of customer focus and technical expertise will strengthen those partnerships and amplify the impact of the center on both our region and our university."
After splitting time between both client- and technical-focused roles with Dunnhumby/84.51, Angulo-Ramirez believes her skillset and background will be a seamless fit with the center. And following an experience developing and leading a consulting graduate program, Angulo-Ramirez yearned to work with students again.
"I have a passion for leading teams and developing people, so you can see how this role sounded too good to be true," she said. "The culture around analytics at UC has been very encouraging and empowering. I get the feeling that the sky is the limit."

Then there's the opportunity to work with the center's members, who are located at various checkpoints on their respective AI and analytics journeys. Some organizations are at the beginning of their life cycle, while others, in Angulo-Ramirez's words, are "at the top of the pyramid in terms of their development and understanding of analytics and AI."
"We are going to talk to our members and ask for their feedback. We want to know their goals and where they are headed," she said. "This is a pretty turbulent time for almost every industry, so we owe it to them to learn how these times are impacting their plans and how we are going to adapt to meet their needs."
Limited seats remain for the center's annual Data Science Symposium (DSS), slated for Thursday, Oct. 9 at Lindner Hall. The symposium unites experts across data science fields for the latest techniques, tools and trends shaping the industry. This year's theme is "AI & Analytics in Action."
DSS 2025 includes a pair of keynotes delivered by industry experts; 10 deep-dive breakout sessions, allowing attendees to choose their own analytics adventure; and three networking sessions, providing space for attendees to reconnect with familiar faces and meet new analytics professionals.
The keynotes will be delivered by Ryan Fitzpatric, senior director of data science and Analytics at GE Aerospace ("The Evolution of Analytics & AI at GE Aerospace") and Matt Booher, vice president of data solutions at E.W. Scripps ("Data Goes Live: How Scripps is Evolving AI & Analytics").
"Attendees should expect some 'real talk' to very technical talk around how to use AI in the real world. Our keynote speakers are going to talk about their organization's journeys in AI: how they started, the roadblocks they found and what the future holds," Angulo-Ramirez said. "But then in our breakout sessions, speakers will talk about how to use AI to reduce fraud, increase customer engagement, market services and more. There are going to be these nuggets of advice on how to use AI in real-life business situations."
