Art at Every Turn - City of Garland Traffic Box Art Wrap Program RFQ

The City of Garland announces a Request for Qualifications for 'Art at Every Turn' Traffic Box Art Wrap Program. The program brings public art into everyday spaces by transforming traffic signal boxes into visually stunning artworks.

These boxes, often overlooked, are an opportunity to reflect Garland's culture, creativity, and uniqueness. The vinyl wraps will beautify roadsides and help deter vandalism and graffiti.

We are seeking local artists to design a series of three (3) wraps for installation on traffic cabinets throughout Garland for Phase One of 'Art at Every Turn.'

Phase One is projected to incorporate approximately 25-30 traffic boxes.

BUDGET

Selected artists will provide three (3) unique designs for fee of $1,500.00. Designs must be high-resolution, quality imagery ready for vinyl reproduction.

ELGIBILITY

• Open to artists, designers, and creative teams of all levels of experience
• Individuals or teams must be at least 18 years old to apply
• Artists must reside within 60 miles of Garland

SELECTION PROCESS

Following the RFQ application deadline, the City of Garland will assemble an Artist Selection Panel comprised of community representatives, arts professionals, and City staff to review applications. The Panel will identify 7 - 10 artist finalists.

• Artist excellence: Artist demonstrates skill, creativity, and innovation
• Artist experience: Artist demonstrates competency to meet project needs
• Community connection: Artist expresses potential to engage community

SCHEDULE

• Application Opens: November 1, 2024
• Application Deadline: November 30, 2024 at 11:59 p.m.
• Finalists Notified: December 15, 2024
• Designs Due: February 28, 2025
• Cabinet Installation: March 2025
