The Royal Thai Embassy in Stockholm hosted a reception to commemorate the Anniversary of the Birth of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great (Rama IX), Thailand's National Day, and National Father's Day on December 5, 2025.

On December 3, 2025, the Royal Thai Embassy in Stockholm hosted a reception to commemorate the Anniversary of the Birth of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great (Rama IX), Thailand's National Day, and National Father's Day on December 5, 2025.

The event took place at the Sheraton Stockholm Hotel and was attended by over 120 people, including members of the diplomatic corps and important figures in Sweden, as well as networks from Swedish government agencies, Swedish parliamentary members, local administration, educational institutions, and businesses. Officials from the Royal Thai Embassy, the Office of the Defense Attache, and the BOI Office, along with their families, were also present.

In her remarks, Ambassador Arunrung Phothong Humphreys welcomed the distinguished guests, reflecting on the immeasurable royal grace of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great. She then invited the attendees to join the Thai people in paying their deepest remembrance to Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother by observing a moment of silence followed by viewing her royal contributions through a video presentation highlighting her foreign relations initiatives and royal patronage in building Thai cultural identity.

The Ambassador emphasized the long-standing relationship between Thailand and Sweden, which began with commercial and educational cooperation in 1868 (B.E. 2411), which was subsequently solidify and now elevated to a Strategic Partnership following the joint signing document by the Thai and Swedish Foreign Ministers on August 26, 2025. This elevation, along with the Royal Thai Air Force's procurement contract for Swedish Gripen fighter jets, was highlighted as a milestone reflecting shared values, aspirations, and confidence in the future of the cooperation that is more inclusive, sustainable, and resilient international order.

The Ambassador also touched upon the Embassy's missions throughout 2025, which reflect the positive relationship, covering the areas of economy, culture, people to people and support for the strength of the Thai community across Sweden.

Subsequently, Mr. Mikael Lindvall, Director General of Global Affairs at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Sweden, as the Guest of honour, delivered his remarks. He paid tribute to His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great and Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother. He then acknowledged and agreed with the points presented by Ambassador Arunrung Phothong Humphreys, which reflect the close current cooperation between Thailand and Sweden. He spoke about the enduring relationship between the two nations across dimensions of people-to-people ties and trade. He stated that the elevation to a Strategic Partnership reflects the comprehensive cooperation and mutual commitment of Thailand and Sweden to seek common benefits in multiple dimensions, including transitioning to a green economy, increasing investment in the agricultural and forestry sectors, renewable energy, defence, health care, manufacturing, electronics, robotics, space, transport and communication.

He emphasized that this Strategic Partnership will define the future for the world and for future generations. Expressing deep gratitude to the Royal Thai Air Force for their high trust in Sweden and the SAAB company, he notes that the many areas of successful cooperation between Thailand and Sweden, the defence sector is one of pride, as demonstrated by the Royal Thai Air Force's procurement of fighter jets from Sweden.

During the reception, the Embassy also featured an exhibition commemorating the 1960 State Visit to Sweden by Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother, with its reflection of Her Majesty's royal grace deeply moving all the attendees. The atmosphere of the reception was one of true Thai elegance.
