WASHINGTON - Dijon Williams, 27, and Daivion Williams, 28, both from Georgia, were found guilty today for charges related to the murder of 30-year-old Nurudeen Thomas, in July 2020, announced U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro.
"These brothers, Dijon and Daivion Williams, traveled from Georgia to Washington, D.C., intending to rob their drug supplier, and the robbery ended in murder," said U.S. Attorney Pirro. "Although they fled back to Georgia after the killing, they could not evade justice. Today's guilty verdict demonstrates our commitment to holding violent offenders accountable, no matter where they run."
A jury in D.C. Superior Court found both Dijon Williams and Daivion Williams guilty of one count each of first-degree murder while armed, conspiracy and attempted robbery. The Honorable Jason Park scheduled sentencing for January 22, 2027.
According to the government's evidence, Dijon Williams, a former Georgetown University football player, and his brother, Daivion Williams, conspired to rob their drug supplier, Nurudeen Thomas, of a large quantity of drugs. They drove from Georgia to Washington, D.C. to effectuate their plan. Shortly after arriving in D.C., on July 21, 2020, they drove to the 4100 block of 14th Street, Northwest, where they met Mr. Thomas, ostensibly to engage in a drug sale. Once there, they put their plan to rob him into action, during which Mr. Thomas was shot and killed. They then fled the District of Columbia for Georgia.
Joining the announcement was Interim Chief Jeffery Carroll of the Metropolitan Police Department.
This case was investigated by the Metropolitan Police Department and was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Yasmin Emrani and Daniel Bromwich. AUSA Rachel Forman investigated and indicted the cases.
