NASHVILLE, TN - The Office of Inspector General (OIG) today announced the conviction of 77-year-old Annette Reynolds of Pulaski, Tennessee.
During a Pulaski Police Department investigation, Ms. Reynolds illegally sold her prescribed Oxycodone on two separate occasions. The medication had been paid for through her TennCare benefits.
Ms. Reynolds pleaded guilty to two counts of TennCare Fraud, a Class D felony, for selling or delivering a drug obtained through TennCare, and two counts of selling a Schedule II controlled substance, a Class C felony.
As a result of her plea, Ms. Reynolds was sentenced to one year of GPS-monitored house arrest beginning in November, followed by nine years of supervised probation with the Tennessee Department of Correction. She was also ordered to pay court costs and a total fine of $4,000.
Ms. Reynolds' case was prosecuted by Giles County District Attorney General Brent Cooper with the assistance of Assistant District Attorney Rebecca S. Parsons.
"Anytime TennCare-funded prescriptions are diverted to the illegal market, it puts our communities at risk and drains resources meant for those who truly need them", said Inspector General Chad D. Holman. "We appreciate the partnership of the Pulaski Police Department and the Giles County District Attorney's Office in ensuring this case reached a successful outcome."
