Alberta's agricultural societies continue to demonstrate initiative and resilience with new innovations that have a positive impact on their communities. In recognition of their efforts, 3 agricultural societies have been awarded the 2025 Agricultural Society Innovation Award: Willow Prairie Agricultural Society, Yellowhead Agricultural Society and Lloydminster Agricultural Exhibition.
In 2025, Willow Prairie Agricultural Society demonstrated creativity in the development of a promotional video that showcased their long standing, monthly pancake breakfast program, and highlighted Alberta Agricultural Societies Day. The video was used on social media to reach a broader audience and help expand the community, promote local activities, and engage with volunteers and new members for the society.
Yellowhead Agricultural Society partnered with the Canadian Red Cross to launch a Wildfire Recovery and Resiliency program to address community challenges and improve emergency preparedness. Key projects included an online animal-evacuation registry, a disaster resource database and an emergency response plan linking residents needing help with those able to assist. This strengthened regional readiness and centralized support for livestock movement and emergency response.
Lloydminster Agricultural Exhibition partnered with local artists to launch Mural Fest at the Lloyd Ex Fair, where artists, businesses and youth transformed cement barricades into community art which were later permanently installed in the community. The event featured interactive art and expanded fair programming through new partnerships and sponsorships.
Award recipients were presented recognition banners at the Alberta Association of Agricultural Societies annual convention during the evening banquet on February 6, 2026.
This award celebrates the significant contributions that agricultural societies make in their communities while inspiring others to act. Driven by passion and initiative, Alberta's agricultural societies continue to develop creative solutions that enhance the quality of life in towns and cities across the province.
