The Deputy Minister of Defence, Major General Aruna Jayasekara (Retd.), chaired a Public Day Programme in Polonnaruwa on 27 June, providing an opportunity for retired military personnel, their family members and members of the general public to directly present their concerns and grievances.
The programme served as an important platform for retired Tri-Forces personnel, their families and the public to engage with the Deputy Minister and discuss issues related to welfare, pensions, healthcare, housing, public services and other service-related matters.
During the session, the Deputy Minister listened attentively to the concerns raised by the participants and instructed the relevant officials to take prompt action to address the issues within the existing legal and administrative framework. He reaffirmed the Government's commitment to safeguarding the welfare of retired members of the Tri-Forces while ensuring that the legitimate concerns of all citizens receive due attention through an efficient and responsive public service.
The programme was attended by the Hon. Deputy Minister of Housing, Construction and Water Supply, Mr. T. B. Sarath, Members of Parliament representing the Polonnaruwa District, officials of the Polonnaruwa Pradeshiya Sabha, senior officials of the Ministry of Defence and other relevant government institutions.
