Nominate a local legend in Ku-ring-gai

Entries are now open for the Ku-ring-gai Council Local Citizen of the Year Awards, celebrating local residents and groups who have made a real difference in the community over the past year.

Every year, Council honours the volunteers, quiet achievers and local leaders whose generosity and commitment help strengthen the Ku-ring-gai community.

Ku-ring-gai Mayor Kim Wheatley said the awards were a chance to say thank you to those who give so much to the community.

"It never ceases to amaze me how many people in our community quietly help others without wanting anything in return," Mayor Wheatley said.

"Whether they're volunteering with the RFS, rescuing wildlife, supporting older residents or caring for our bushland, these locals make Ku-ring-gai a better place to live.

"These awards are our chance to say thank you. If someone comes to mind, I encourage you to nominate them today."

Nominations are now open for the following categories:

  • Citizen of the Year (25 years +).
  • Young Citizen of the Year (16-25 years).
  • Environmental Citizen of the Year (individual, organisation, schools or group).
  • Mayor's Award for an Outstanding Contribution by an Individual or Community Organisation.

The Local Citizen of the Year Awards aim to recognise Ku-ring-gai residents who have demonstrate excellent citizenship and a contribution to the people of Ku-ring-gai or the wider community.

Details on how to nominate someone are available on Council's website, along with information on the 2026 award recipients.

Nominations close Sunday 13 December 2026.
