On October 14, 2025, Ambassador Fan Yong visited Botswana University of Agriculture and Natural Resources and met with Vice-Chancellor Professor Ketlhatlhogile Mosepele to exchange views on strengthening cooperation in education and agriculture.
Ambassador Fan said that educational and cultural exchanges is an important part of China-Botswana relations. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Botswana. China is willing to take the implementation of the outcomes of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) Summit as an opportunity to share its successful experiences in agricultural modernization with Botswana and deepen bilateral exchanges and cooperation in agriculture, culture, and academia.
Professor Mosepele expressed gratitude for China's long-standing assistance and support to Botswana's education sector. He expressed appreciation for China's achievements in agricultural modernization and poverty alleviation, expressing hope to further learn from China's agricultural development and poverty eradication experience. He also emphasized the importance of close exchanges with Chinese universities and academic institutions and strengthening cooperation in research innovation and talent exchanges.
