Statement on the International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples

On the occasion of the International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples, we express our unwavering solidarity with Indigenous peoples across the globe in their just struggles for dignity, self-determination, social justice, and the defense of their ancestral lands, cultures, and collective rights.

For generations, Indigenous communities have endured dispossession, exploitation, discrimination, forced displacement, and the destruction of their traditional ways of life as a consequence of colonialism, imperialism, and the relentless pursuit of profit. Today, these injustices continue through the seizure of natural resources, environmental destruction, land grabbing, and attacks on Indigenous workers.

The struggle of Indigenous peoples is inseparable from the broader struggle of the working class and all oppressed peoples against exploitation and inequality. Indigenous workers are often among the most exploited, facing precarious employment, poverty wages, unsafe working conditions, and limited access to healthcare, education, and social protection. Their fight for decent work, social rights, and respect for their identities is an integral part of the global struggle for peace, democracy, and social progress.

We reaffirm our commitment to defending the rights of Indigenous, including their rights to their lands, territories, natural resources, languages, cultures, and traditions. We oppose all forms of racism, discrimination, militarization, and criminalization directed against Indigenous communities and their legitimate struggles.

On this day, we call upon trade unions and progressive organizations worldwide to strengthen solidarity with Indigenous peoples, to support their demands for justice and equality, and to unite in the common struggle against exploitation, occupation, war, and all policies that place profit above human needs and the environment.

The International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples is not merely a day of recognition but a call to action. Through international solidarity, unity of the working class, and the common struggle of all oppressed peoples, we can advance toward a world founded on peace, social justice, equality, and respect for the rights and dignity of all.
