Kansas City invites the community to celebrate inclusivity and accessibility at the Language Access Festival hosted by the Office of Language Access (OLA) on Saturday, October 18, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Northeast High School.
This family friendly event will allow residents to familiarize themselves with OLA services and connect with resources across City departments. The event will feature cultural performances, presentations, and outdoor activities.
Kansas City is proud to celebrate the one-year anniversary of OLA, a milestone made possible through collaboration between OLA, elected officials, executive leadership, community partners and all City departments. Together, OLA is advancing the City's commitment to expanding language access services to everyone.
Since opening in 2024, the mission of OLA has been to ensure accessibility for all individuals in the city regardless of their language, communication needs or education level. Core services include translating written materials produced by the City, providing interpretation services for live City events, making plain language revisions to City content, and ensuring ADA accessibility. OLA helps identify and efficiently address language access gaps across the city. Services provided by OLA are free for all departments, residents, and visitors.
