Tallahassee Police Arrest Suspect in Delaware Street Homicide

October 07, 2026

The Tallahassee Police Department (TPD) has arrested one individual in connection with a homicide that occurred on September 30 within the 700 block of Delaware Street.

Following a thorough and swift investigation, detectives with TPD's Violent Crimes Unit determined that the victim and the suspect, 29-year-old Al'layza Henry, were known to one another.

On the day of the homicide, both the victim and suspect were observed inside the residence together. Later that day officers responded to the same residence and located the victim deceased inside, suffering from a single gunshot wound.

As the investigation progressed, detectives gathered evidence and conducted witness interviews that led to the development of probable cause for an arrest. After consulting with the State Attorney's Office, arrest warrants were obtained. Henry was subsequently taken into custody on October 7, 2026.

This arrest reflects TPD's continued commitment to thoroughly investigating violent crimes and holding those responsible accountable for their actions. Anyone with information about criminal activity is encouraged to contact TPD at 850-891-4200 or provide an anonymous tip through Crime Solvers at 850-574-TIPS.

Arrested: Al'layza Henry, 29, for second degree murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon
