Exelon (Nasdaq: EXC), one of the nation's largest utility companies, rang the opening bell at the Nasdaq MarketSite today in Times Square to commemorate its 25th anniversary.

To celebrate this milestone, Delmarva Power is highlighting the progress and partnerships that continue to strengthen reliability, affordability, and community resilience for more than 561,500 electric customers in Delaware and Maryland, and approximately 140,000 natural gas customers in northern Delaware. These achievements reflect Delmarva Power's commitment since joining the Exelon family of companies in 2016.

Exelon President and CEO Calvin Butler was joined at the ceremony by members of Exelon's Executive Committee, including Tyler Anthony, President and CEO of Pepco Holdings, which includes Delmarva Power. Also in attendance were several long-serving employees who have been with the company for 25 years or more, representing the dedication and resilience that have powered Exelon forward. Among them was Robert Quinn, manager of Regional Electric Operations for the Christiana District in Newark, Del., who has nearly 35 years of dedicated service to Delmarva Power and is known for his commitment to operational excellence and team development.

"Being part of the Exelon family of companies for nearly a decade has empowered us to deliver strong service for our customers while deepening our commitment to the communities we serve," said Anthony. "As we celebrate Exelon's 25-year anniversary, we're proud to reaffirm our dedication to building stronger, more resilient communities-whether through modernizing the grid to ensure reliable service or investing in programs that uplift families and create opportunities for individuals across Delaware and Maryland."

Delivering Impact Across Delmarva

  • Reliability & Resilience: Thanks to continued investments in the local energy grid, customers across Delaware and Maryland have experienced a 46 percent decrease in outages over the past ten years. In 2024, when outages did occur, Delmarva Power crews safely restored service in an average of 63 minutes systemwide. Additionally, due to Delmarva Power's natural gas pipeline infrastructure replacement efforts, natural gas customers experienced approximately 22 percent fewer hazardous gas leaks in 2024 compared to the previous three-year average, and nearly a 48 percent reduction in service interruptions compared to 2023.
  • Affordability & Assistance: This summer, Delmarva Power launched its Customer Relief Fund, which provides up to $300 in direct energy assistance to eligible limited- and moderate-income customers. This fund was made possible by a one-time $6 million donation to local nonprofits and community organizations across the region. In 2024, Delmarva Power helped more than 23,000 customers secure more than $23.1 million in energy assistance, including more than $6.9 million in LIHEAP funding.
  • Workforce & Opportunity: Delmarva Power's more than 20 workforce development initiatives enhance the regions' economic stability and prosperity, while introducing hundreds of program graduates to the utility industry through STEM programming, internships and training opportunities, and even opportunities to interview for roles at the company. For example, the Path to Success Program has prepared nearly 60 high school seniors for entry-level energy careers since 2020.
  • Community Investment: Since 2016, Delmarva Power has proudly contributed more than $14.7 million to local nonprofits and employees devoted more than 141,440 hours - the equivalent of 17,680 workdays - to volunteer with hundreds of organizations across Delaware and Maryland.
  • Supplier Inclusion & Local Spend: Delmarva Power continues delivering on its promise of powering a cleaner, brighter future for its customers and communities by expanding support for diversity-certified suppliers, purchasing $166 million in goods and services in 2024.

As part of Exelon's anniversary, Delmarva Power will continue investing in the infrastructure, programs and partnerships that matter most to customers, bringing the benefits of scale, shared innovation, and mutual aid to every neighborhood we serve.
