Carter slams Georgia Senators for voting to shut down the government: They’re putting Georgians last

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Rep. Earl L. "Buddy" Carter (R-GA) today released the following statement calling on Georgia Senators Jon Ossoff (D-GA) and Raphael Warnock (D-GA) to support a clean continuing resolution (CR) to keep the government funded through November 21, 2025, and avoid a disastrous Democrat-led shutdown at midnight tonight:

"Make no mistake: When Social Security checks are missed, troops are forced to go without pay, seniors lose access to telehealth, and veterans benefits lapse, Chuck Schumer, Jon Ossoff, Raphael Warnock, and the Democrats are to blame. They're putting Georgians last by prioritizing health care for illegal immigrants over the needs of American citizens and advocating to eliminate the $50 billion rural health care fund that is delivering quality, accessible health care to millions of patients. Shutting down the government does nothing but cause pain and chaos, which is exactly what the Democrat party wants to inflict on hardworking Americans just to prove that they're 'standing up' to Trump. The Peach State has a long memory, and we will not soon forget who abandoned us to serve their own self-interest."
