Grassley Completes 46th Annual 99 County Meetings

LINN COUNTY, IOWA - U.S. Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) concluded his 46^th annual 99 county meetings across Iowa with a question-and-answer session with employees at Sub-Zero in Cedar Rapids. Earlier in the day, Grassley held a meeting with factory workers in Monticello. Grassley takes questions on any subject, and Iowans set the agenda.

"Meeting with Iowans face-to-face gives me the chance to meet with a cross section of people, which informs my work in Washington. Representative government is a two-way street, and having dialogue with constituents is what guides my policy priorities. Even though I'd like to, I can't meet face-to-face with all three million Iowans. So, I always encourage people to get in touch with me by writing a letter, sending an email, or by calling or stopping by one of my offices," Grassley said.

"My work to reach across the aisle in Washington, pass a five-year Farm Bill, make life more affordable for families and promote transparency and accountability in government are based on input I hear from my constituents in Iowa," Grassley continued. "I look forward to many more question-and-answer sessions yet this year."

Iowans who attended this year's meetings raised comments on a variety of issues including pharmaceutical benefit managers, Social Security, foreign policy, election integrity, rural healthcare and the Farm Bill. They also shared support for bipartisanship in Washington, year-round E15 and the Working Families Tax Cuts Act.

Grassley has held his annual county meetings since 1981, when he was first elected to the U.S. Senate. For the past 46 years, he has held at least one question-and-answer session in each of Iowa's 99 counties every year and invites local media to attend his meetings and ask questions.

Through this process, he hears from a wide range of Iowans, including those who are unable to take time off from work to attend his town meetings.
