April 22, 2026, Hanna Klut, counsellor of the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Belarus to the UN Office in Geneva, took part in the Regional Forum on Sustainable Development of the UN Economic Commission for Europe, which takes place on April 21-22, in Geneva.
A representative of Belarus informed participants of the forum about government policies to ensure the needs of the population and economy for reliable, affordable and clean energy in the context of implementing the global Sustainable Development Agenda 2030.
Stressed that significant progress in this field is being made by the commissioning of the Belarusian nuclear power plant, modernization of the energy system, expansion of the use of local renewable energy sources, as well as the introduction of energy-efficient and innovative technologies, which is consistent with the global goal of sustainable development.
The Belarusian diplomat confirmed our country's interest in pragmatic international cooperation on issues of digitalization of energy, development of electric transport and energy storage, which are pertinent given of plans to expand national nuclear-energy program.
In addition, during the round table on sharing experiences "Goal 6 in the field of sustainable development "Clean water and sanitation"", the achievements of Belarusian state policy in this sphere were highly appreciated: in the UN/UNDP report "Human Development Indicators" Belarus was ranked among the group of countries with 100%-sustainable access of the population to improved water sources.
