On 31 May, Consul General Chen Shijie attended the launch event for the "Spirit of Fujian Entrepreneurs" documentary and publication. The event was attended by over 300 guests, including Mark Mitchell, Minister for Ethnic Communities, Nancy Lu, Member of Parliament, Chen Fuxiang, President of the Fujian Chamber of Commerce of New Zealand, as well as representatives from the business communities within the consular district.
In his speech, Chen introduced the new achievements of China's high-quality economic development and the consensus reached at the meeting between the Chinese and US heads of state. He stated that China's 15th Five-Year Plan has provided the world with a "list of opportunities". He expressed hope that Chinese entrepreneurs in the consular district would seize these opportunities, ride the wave of development, forge ahead with determination, and make greater new contributions to promoting pragmatic cooperation between China and New Zealand. The Consulate-General will continue to serve as a bridge and bond, providing higher-quality and more efficient services to the overseas Chinese community.
Minister Mark Mitchell and MP Nancy Lu spoke highly of the Chinese community's contributions to New Zealand's economic and social development, as well as its multicultural growth. The documentary and publication vividly showcase the inspiring stories of Fujian compatriots in New Zealand overcoming hardships to blaze new trails, fully embodying the spirit of Fujian entrepreneurs-characterized by their willingness to fight to win and their dedication to giving back to their hometowns.
