Hawkins Issues Statement on Passing of Kit Bond

May 13, 2025

MOFB President Garrett Hawkins issued the following statement following the passing of former Missouri governor and U.S. Senator Kit Bond:

"Kit Bond was a state treasure, and a true statesman. He led with common sense and an unforgettable sense of humor. Throughout his career, he stood his ground for our state and delivered results, including bringing home federal funding to make a tangible difference in the lives of Missourians. Farm Bureau members loved Kit, and he was honored with the 'Friend of Farm Bureau' award numerous times. We could always count on him to lead the charge and take on agriculture's toughest challenges. His was a life well-lived, and his service will impact Missouri for generations. I will dearly miss Kit, and his family will be in my prayers."
