ALBUQUERQUE - Today, Representative Melanie Stansbury (NM-01) announced 14 major wins for New Mexico through her work to secure federal funding for Community Projects in the Appropriations bills that passed Congress over the last month. This includes projects in public safety, healthcare, housing, and rural development across New Mexico's 1st Congressional District.
Rep. Stansbury worked closely with New Mexico state, local, and tribal governments, and with Senators Luján and Heinrich, to secure funding for these projects. This funding will strengthen public safety, expand access to healthcare and behavioral health, help tackle the fentanyl crisis, expand housing (especially for seniors), invest in essential water infrastructure, and help preserve New Mexico's cultural heritage.
"The funding we secured in these funding packages will make transformational investments in New Mexico's communities-from investments in public safety to tackle the fentanyl crisis and help save lives, to helping New Mexicans access housing, healthcare, and behavioral health, and to protect our precious waters. These projects will have meaningful impacts in our communities for generations to come," said Rep. Stansbury. Investing in Public Safety Across the State

$1,031,000 to enhance New Mexico State Police Technologystatewide, including 5G connectivity and automated license plate readers. Funding was secured in partnership with Senators Heinrich and Luján.

$800,000 for a new APD Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) Mobile Lab Vehicle.These funds will help APD update its current mobile lab vehicles to address public safety needs across the Albuquerque metro area.

$1,042,000 to update Bernalillo County Sheriff's Office Vehicles.Funds will enhance public safety operations to help meet public safety needs across the Bernalillo County area. Funding was secured in partnership with Senator Luján.

$1,000,000 for a new fire station in Fort Sumner. This funding will support the development of a new fire station to improve emergency services in Fort Sumner, west of the Pecos River. This is the fifth fire station Rep. Stansbury has secured funding to help build, in addition to one in Moriarity, Sandia Pueblo, Peralta, and East Central in Albuquerque.
Addressing Rural Healthcare and Behavioral Health Needs

$1,000,000 for an Acute Care Hospital in Valencia County.Funding will support the construction of a state-of-the-art acute care hospital to expand access to emergency and inpatient care and serve as a critical lifeline for residents across Valencia County.

$1,015,000 for a new Sandoval County Behavioral Health Clinic.Funding will support the development of a comprehensive behavioral health center in partnership with tribal and local stakeholders to help address addiction, housing instability, mental health, and family service needs, serving rural and remote communities across Sandoval County-as a first-of-its-kind regional hub for urgent and ongoing care.
Addressing Homelessness, Housing Insecurity, and Supporting Vulnerable Families

$850,000 for a Senior Stability Shelter in Albuquerque to provide permanent supportive housing for seniors experiencing homelessness.

$250,000 to expand affordable housing in Bernalillo County. Funding will provide housing for low- and moderate-income families in Downtown Albuquerque and Bernalillo County. This project will provide safe and stable temporary housing for seniors and families in need of housing.

$250,000 to expand transitional housing for families in Albuquerque experiencing crisis. Funding will support the purchase and rehabilitation of transitional housing for vulnerable families experiencing crisis. This project will help families grow out of emergency and short-term shelters and into longer-term housing while they continue to get back on their feet.
Protecting Our Water Infrastructure

$1,000,000 to improve Irrigation Infrastructure for the Middle Rio Grande Pueblos. Funding will provide long-overdue support for improving acequia and irrigation infrastructure for the six middle Rio Grande Pueblos and addressing maintenance, repairs, and upgrades needed for improvements in irrigation on Pueblo lands.

$1,092,000 for the Bernalillo Wastewater Project.Funding will support the rehabilitation of the Town of Bernalillo's aging wastewater treatment plant, extending the service life of its infrastructure and future growth in the community to protect water supplies. Funding was secured in partnership with Senators Heinrich and Luján.

$1,092,000 for the Santa Rosa Pipelines Projectto improve and expand drinking water in the City of Santa Rosa in Dog Valley.

$1,092,000 to expand Corrales Wastewater Treatment and protect groundwater resources. Funding will help install wastewater treatment infrastructure across the Village of Corrales to protect local groundwater from septic system contamination, conserve water resources by recycling treated wastewater, and support long-term sustainability.
Protecting our Cultural Heritage and Historic Buildings

$1,015,000 to restore the Estancia Town Hall and modernize the historic community center. The community center serves as a vital community hub, providing essential services, educational programs, and support for generations of New Mexicans.

The Sandoval County Animal Shelter and Clinic groundbreaking.Rep. Stansbury secured $1.5 million for this project in FY23, which broke ground this week in the Town of Bernalillo. These funds will provide emergency shelter and veterinary care to animals from rural and tribal communities in Sandoval County.

Daniel Webster Park will soon have a ribbon-cutting. Rep. Stansbury secured $750,000 for upgrades to Daniel Webster Park in Albuquerque in FY22. Daniel Webster Park serves young people with disabilities in Albuquerque.
