NATIONWIDE - Today, Sierra Club, the Electrification Coalition, Forth, Plug In America released the latest edition of the AchiEVe policy guide, a comprehensive resource designed to help advocates, policymakers, utilities, and community leaders accelerate the transition to electric transportation through proven state, local, and utility policies.
As momentum for transportation electrification continues to grow despite federal attacks on programs, incentives, and standards, the updated guide highlights successful initiatives from across the country that are helping expand access to electric vehicles and e-mobility options, reduce transportation costs, improve air quality, and strengthen local economies.
Building on over five years of real-world implementation, AchiEVe provides practical policy solutions that communities and states can adapt to meet their unique needs.
"Communities across the country are continuing to demonstrate that strategic clean transportation policies can deliver real benefits for families, businesses, and local economies," said Katherine García, director of Sierra Club's Clean Transportation for All campaign. "Our latest AchiEVe guide showcases proven strategies that are helping expand access to electric vehicles that will lower fuel costs, improve air quality, and reduce climate pollution for people nationwide."
"Transportation electrification is critical for U.S. economic and national security, as illustrated by the rising gasoline prices amid global conflicts," said Ben Prochazka, executive director of the Electrification Coalition. "State and local governments play a key role in advancing transportation electrification, and the AchiEVe Guide provides real-world examples of policies that states and cities can implement now to secure the future of transportation."
"No community has to figure out transportation electrification alone. AchiEVe brings together the best of what's working across the country so advocates and policymakers can build on each other's success and move their communities forward together," said Jeff Allen, Executive Director of Forth.
"States and communities have a unique opportunity to lead on transportation electrification and protect public health, breathe cleaner air, keep money in the local economy, and save families both time and money," said Joel Levin, executive director of Plug In America. "This toolkit serves as a resource to empower jurisdictions to scale and replicate successful policies and programs, learn best practices, and improve their communities."
