Taylor Busbee Selected as December 2025 Employee of the Month

Escambia County is excited to recognize Taylor Busbee, Lifeguard Supervisor in the Water Safety Division of the Public Safety Department, as the December 2025 Employee of the Month. Busbee's selection was recognized with a proclamation during the Dec. 11 Board of County Commissioners meeting.

Busbee has been with Pensacola Beach Lifeguards for more than a decade, beginning as a seasonal employee in October 2015 before becoming a full-time employee in May 2024.

In his role as Lifeguard Supervisor, Busbee is responsible for the instruction and development of Pensacola Beach Lifeguards through the Water Safety Program, supervising the lifeguard team and providing coverage to safeguard Escambia County's beaches. Busbee's role extends to the Junior Lifeguard Program, where he molds 13-15-year-olds into successful lifeguard candidates. The program has demonstrated great success, with nearly 40 Pensacola Beach Lifeguards starting their lifeguard service through the Junior Lifeguard Program.

Busbee is known for his strong leadership skills and calm demeanor, encouraging excellence throughout the Pensacola Beach Lifeguards team. Busbee helps run the Water Safety Program efficiently, working to ensure the safety of all beachgoers. His coworkers have remarked that the Water Safety Program runs with the precision of a "Swiss watch." Additionally, Busbee successfully coordinates with Escambia County Fire Rescue and Escambia County EMS to ensure the operational effectiveness of the programs.

"Taylor is a constant positive influence on our team of lifesavers," Pensacola Beach Water Safety Chief Dave Greenwood said. "He motivates the lifeguards to perform at their best and maintains the highest quality of character, whether at the beach or in his personal life."

Outside of his lifeguarding duties, Busbee maintains a passion for his community, volunteering with the Upper Room Church on Pensacola Beach, where he welcomes attendees, makes general morning announcements, and closes the church service.
