CANYON, Texas - More than 85 local and national companies will meet with hundreds of West Texas A&M University students at the University's annual spring Career and Internship Expo.

The job fair, set for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Feb. 19 in the First United Bank Center on WT's Canyon campus, is one of the largest career events of the academic year.

The expo, held by the Office of Career and Professional Development, is open to students of all classifications and majors who are seeking employment and internship opportunities.

"The No. 1 reason students pursue higher education is to secure a better-paying job," said Kat Kane, senior director of the Office of Career and Professional Development. "At WT, we work intentionally with academic programs to ensure students graduate with relevant, in-demand skills and succeed in their careers long after leaving campus.

"That long-term success is cultivated through experiences and events like this, where students connect with employers, secure internships, and take steps toward their first job," Kane said.

Meeting regional needs is a key component of the University's long-range plan, WT 125: From the Panhandle to the World.

That plan is fueled by the historic One West comprehensive fundraising campaign, which reached its initial $125 million goal 18 months after publicly launching in September 2021. The campaign, which is now winding down, has raised more than $175 million.
