Celebrate the Transformation of Commerce Place on Nov. 1

Residents and visitors are invited to celebrate the revitalization of Commerce Place-a mid-block alley located in Raleigh's historic Warehouse District, between W. Martin and Davie streets. This event is Friday, November 1 from 3-8 p.m. during the Raleigh First Fridayseries.

Attendees can visit local business pop-ups, enjoy live music, snacks, and games, and have the chance to participate in a raffle to win a gift card or prize basket from a downtown business. City staff will be available to talk about the project and hear community ideas for how to activate the space.

The new Commerce Place is a vibrant, pedestrian-friendly space that can host community events and foster local engagement in downtown Raleigh. This event is an opportunity for the community to share the types of events and activities they would like to see happen on the improved street. Improvements to the space include:

  • New outdoor seating areas.
  • Enhanced crosswalks, bike racks, and pedestrian improvements.
  • Festive string lighting.
  • Two vibrant "asphalt art" murals created by local artist Mary Carter Taub.

This project is led by the City's Urban Projects Group, along with Raleigh Transportation, Raleigh Arts, Empire Properties, Turnbridge Equities, and other City departments.
