Boulder Highway Storm Drain Project To Begin Monday, Aug. 26

Lane Restrictions Planned Between Sahara Avenue and Charleston Boulevard

The Flamingo-Boulder Highway Storm Drain Project roadwork begins Monday, Aug. 26, 2019. Motorists can expect lane restrictions and delays on Boulder Highway between Sahara Avenue and Charleston Boulevard during the next 21 months. Alternate north/south routes during the construction include Eastern Avenue and Lamb Boulevard.

This $29.9 million project will install move than 5,000 feet of new, reinforced-concrete box, varying in size from 15 feet by 10 feet to 24 feet by 6 feet, within Boulder Highway from Sahara to Charleston. Additional storm drain, water supply and sewer improvements will be made through the corridor, as well as adjacent side streets, including St. Louis Avenue, Oakey Boulevard, Atlantic Street, Olive Street, and Euclid Avenue.

The project will restrict traffic along Boulder Highway from Sahara to Charleston, with additional impacts to side streets St. Louis, Oakey, and Atlantic. Daytime work will be mainly on the side streets with nighttime work mostly on Boulder Highway throughout the project. The contractor will do potholing primarily for the first three weeks. Once drain installation gets under way, the lane restrictions will be in place 24 hours each day. This work is expected to be complete by February 2021.

This project is part of the Clark County Regional Flood Control District's master-planned facilities intended to alleviate the heavy flow of storm water that has flowed down the street surface of Boulder Highway in the past.

Harber Company, Inc. is the contractor and the city of Las Vegas Department of Public Works is managing the project. The project is funded by the Clark County Regional Flood Control District and the Las Vegas Valley Water District. Residents with concerns or questions should call 702-334-5936.
