City supports neighbourhood resilience with new climate adaptation micro grant

May 4, 2026

The City of Edmonton has launched the Community Climate Adaptation Micro Grant, a new grant program designed to help Edmontonians work together to make their neighbourhoods more resilient to a changing climate.

Groups of three or more Edmontonians can now apply for up to $5,000 for projects that will help prepare their neighbourhoods for climate hazards. Whether it's emergency preparedness, wildfire education, installing climate resilient landscaping, or any other community-focused resiliency project or event, the City of Edmonton encourages grassroots actions.

Eligible applicants include:
  • Groups of three or more individuals who:
    • Live within the municipal boundaries of the City of Edmonton;
    • Live in separate households; and
    • Includes one individual (or more) who is, or is willing to, apply to become a Climate Connector;
    • Are of legal age (18+).
    • Registered organizations such as community leagues, condominium boards, seniors associations, or homeowner associations.
    • Registered charities.

The Community Climate Adaptation Micro Grant Program was created to empower neighbourhood level action while strengthening education and awareness about the value of sustainable private property landscaping and adaptation efforts.

Edmontonians looking to learn more about applying for the grant program are encouraged to register for one of two upcoming webinars on
May 12 at 7 p.m. and May 13 at noon.
