The European Union in Bosnia and Herzegovina has established its first Youth Advisory Board (YAB), a new body that brings together 15 young leaders from across the country. This Board has been created to provide young people with an institutionalized and structured channel of collaboration with the EU in BiH, through which they can represent their peers by expressing their views, ideas and proposals on themes that are vital for young people of the country.

The members of the Board come from diversity of local communities, and represent a wide range of professions and fields of interest. Among them are young activists, engineers, students and high school representatives, youth workers, journalists, researchers and others. This diversity ensures that the work of the EU in BiH reflects the different needs and priorities of young people across BiH, including perspectives from socially and geographically less visible communities.

During their mandate, Board members will have the opportunity to work closely with the EU in BiH, attend meetings and consultations, and actively contribute to the development of recommendations for youth-oriented policies, projects and programs. They will also engage in dialogue with representatives of institutions, civil society, the business community, educational institutions and international organizations, advocating for the interests of all young people in the country.

The establishment of the Youth Advisory Board represents an important step in strengthening the partnership between the European Union and young people in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The activities of the Youth Advisory Board will begin early next year, following an orientation event at which members will be introduced to their roles, responsibilities and ways of working.

Through this initiative, the EU in BiH reaffirms its long-term commitment to a greater participation of youth in public life by creating a space in which the voices of young people play a meaningful role in shaping policies that influence the future of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
