Pray for Snow event set for Feb. 21 in place of Montana State’s Rail Jam

BOZEMAN - Montana State University will hold a community Pray for Snow music festival on Saturday, Feb. 21, in place of its annual Rail Jam.

The event will run from 7 to 10 p.m. on the south side of Romney Hall on the MSU campus. The evening will feature live music, food vendors and a celebration of Bozeman's winter sports culture. Additional event details, including performer announcements and parking information, will be shared through MSU social media channels as they are finalized.

The free, family-friendly event is also open to community members.

Organizers plan to pay tribute to Rail Jam, which would have marked its fifth year. Traditionally, Rail Jam features a slopestyle rail course constructed on campus where athletes showcase their skiing and snowboarding skills. Due to a lack of snow, event organizers made the decision to transition to a different format this year.

"The pivot from Rail Jam is unfortunately weather related, but we are proud of our students for brainstorming an alternative idea that will still bring the community together and celebrate Bozeman's affinity for winter sports," said Matt Caires, MSU dean of students. "We have the excitement. Now all we need is the snow."

The event is supported by the Associated Students of MSU and the Office of Student Engagement. Questions can be directed to Cassie Brazinsky, student engagement program coordinator, at [email protected].
