April 9, 2026 - Just as a picture is worth a thousand words, so is a quilt, and an award-winning quilter is getting ready to tell her story at the Bettendorf Public Library.
On Saturday, April 25, from 2-3 p.m., Diane Murtha will share the wisdom gained from more than 50 years as a fiber artist. What started as her grandmother helping her with her first hand-sewn and tied quilt has turned into a successful career. As an adult, she became hooked on fiber arts, transitioning from traditional quilts to modifying patterns and creating her own original designs.
Now an award-winning fiber artist, author, international lecturer, and instructor, Murtha's art and articles are included in books, magazines, and several juried exhibits and international shows, including the prestigious National Quilt Museum and International Quilt Festival. Murtha published her first book, Artful Insights in Fiber: Quilted Bits of Wit & Wisdom, in March 2023. That book will be available for purchase after her event at the library.
This free event is funded by the Friends of the Bettendorf Public Library. To learn more, visit the library's events webpage.
